We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Scriptures (II Tim. 3:16); that both the Old and New Testaments are inerrant as they were originally written (Matt. 5:18; John 17:17); that the Scriptures are complete, infallible (Rev. 22:18-19; Ps. 119:128); and are the sufficient and sole authority on all matters of faith and practice for the Christian believer (I Thess. 2:13).
We believe that the Scriptures interpreted in their natural, literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life which define man's responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these dispensations--the age of law, the age of the church, and the age of the kingdom-are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture (Gen. 1:28; I Cor. 9:17; II Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:13-25; Eph. 1:10; 3:2-10; Col. 1:24-25, 27; Rev. 20:2-6).
We believe in one God, the Creator and Sovereign ruler of the universe (Gen. 1:1, John 1:1-3); eternally co-existent in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (II Cor. 13:14); co-equal in nature, divine attributes and perfections; and are worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence and obedience. We believe that He originally created all things, not by evolutionary processes, but directly and immediately, and that He sustains and guides all things to their pre-determined end (Col 1:17; Eph. 1:10).
We believe in the deity of God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (Isa. 7:14; Col. 2:9); pre-existent with the Father (John 1:18); conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18; Luke 1:35); born of the Virgin Mary, not having human father (Luke 1:34); and is true God and true man (Matt. 16:13-18).
b. We believe He lived a sinless life (John 8:46; I Peter 1:19); shed His redeeming blood (Eph. 1:7) and died a substitutionary death on the cross for the sins of the world; was bodily resurrected from the grave on the third day (I Cor. 15:3-9); and ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for believers (Heb. 7:25). He is man's only hope of salvation and is the only mediator between God and man (John 14:6; I Tim. 2:5).
We believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who regenerates (John 3:5) and baptizes believers into the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:13); empowers them for service (Acts 1:8); indwells (Rom. 8:9), infills (Eph. 5:18), guides (Rom. 8:14), enlightens (Eph. 3:16-19), comforts for daily living (John 14:16-18); and seals them until the day of redemption (Eph. 1:13).
We believe that Adam, as the natural head of the human race, was created in the image of God, originally innocent and sinless (Gen. 1:26-27); that he voluntarily sinned (Gen. 3:6-7; Rom. 5:12); and thereby incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death upon himself and all mankind (Rom. 3:10; 3:23).
b. We believe that all human beings are sinful by nature (Ps. 51:5); in the case of those who reach moral responsibility become sinners by choice (Jer. 17:9); are unable to effect their own salvation (Titus 3:5); and are in need of the salvation which Christ alone can provide (Rom. 6:23; 5:18).
We believe that a person is saved when he repents of his sin and accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior apart from human works or ceremonies (John 1:11-12).
We believe in the eternal security of the believer who is kept by the power of God (John 10:27-29; I Peter 1:5).
We believe that in sanctification the believer is set apart, unto God and from the world, as a saint (I Peter 1:2; Heb. 10:9-10, 14; I Cor. 1:30-31). Every regenerated believer is sanctified POSITIONALLY at conversion (Col. 2:10); and every believer is to continue being sanctified PROGRESSIVELY and practically (I Thess. 5:23; II Cor. 3:18). Positional sanctification corresponds to our STANDING in Christ; practical and progressive sanctification corresponds to our STATE before the Lord. Sanctification will reach its climax and be PERFECTED when Christ takes us to Himself in the rapture (I Thess. 3:12-13; I John 3:2).
We believe that the Church has two aspects:
1) "Church which is His body" -- the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head, and of which all regenerated believers are members (I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 3:6; Col. 1:24).
2) "Local Church" -- a company of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptized by immersion upon a credible confession of faith, and voluntarily associated for worship, fellowship and service (Acts 2:47; Acts 11:19-30).
b. We believe the local Church was given the responsibility to perpetually observe two ordinances:
1) Baptism of believers by immersion as a testimony and symbol of the believer's regeneration and union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 8:39; Rom. 6:3-5).
2) Lord's Supper as a memorial of the Lord's death until He comes again (I Cor. 11:23-34).
c. We believe the Church was given the divine commission to preach the Gospel to every creature (Matt. 28:18-20); to earnestly contend for the faith (Jude 3); and to edify individual members of the Body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-16).
We believe that Biblical separation includes separation of the local Church from:
a. Any affiliation or fellowship with:
1. Those who deny the basic fundamentals of the faith (II Tim. 2:16-19; I Tim. 6:3-6)
2. Those who teach and practice extra-Biblical traditions and doctrine ( Rom. 16:17; I Tim. 1:18-20)
3. Those who practice inclusivism (II Chron. 19:2; II Thess. 3:6, 14)
4. Any form of apostasy (Titus 3:10-11; II John 9-11; Gal. 1:8)
b. Indulgence in worldly practices and amusements (Rom. 12:1-2; I John 2:15-17; I Cor. 6:19-20; James 4:4; Eph. 5:10)
We believe in the imminent (Titus 2:13), pre-tribulational return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church (Rapture)(Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10); that following the Great Tribulation period He will visibly and bodily return to the earth with His saints and establish His Millennial Kingdom (II Thess. 1:7-9); and that during this 1,000 year period the covenant promises of God for Israel will be literally fulfilled and the times of the Gentiles will have ended (Ezk. 36:24-28; Isa. 11:11-16; Rom. 11:26; Luke 21:24; Zech. 12:2; 14:23).
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:46; John 5:28, 29; 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 12-13).
b. We believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord (Luke 23:43; II Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 3:21; I Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:4-6).
c. We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection, when with soul and body reunited they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; II Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 20:11-15).
tWe believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: 1) the home; 2) the church; and 3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God (Rom. 13:1-7; Eph. 5:22-24; Heb. 13:17; I Pet. 2:13-14).
We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the Church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon (Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7:1-3; I Tim. 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6).
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; I Cor. 5:1; 6:9; I Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4).
We believe that Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians or the Church to resolve personal disputes. We believe the Church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members. We do believe, however, that a Christian may seek compensation for injuries from another Christian's insurance company as long as the claim is pursued without malice or slander (I Cor. 6:1-8; Eph. 4:31-32).
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Induced abortion is a deliberate, unjustified, inexcusable taking of an unborn human life and is therefore murder. We believe that abortions performed because of pregnancy due to rape or incest or because of the presence of birth defects or that there is a desire for gender selection, birth or population control, or there is concern for the mental well-being of the mother are unacceptable and unbiblical practices. (Job. 3:16; Psalms 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44).
